Mustello: More Than $871,000 Awarded for School Safety, Mental Health
August 17, 2026
BUTLER – State Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced four school districts serving the 11th Legislative District will be awarded $871,536 in School Safety and Mental Health Grants for physical security enhancements, behavioral health supports or both.
“Every school has its own security and mental health needs, and the people working in those buildings every day understand those needs best,” Mustello said. “These grants will give our local educators greater flexibility to make practical improvements that protect students, support teachers and help families feel confident about where their children spend their school day.”
The grants are:
• Butler Area School District - $355,725.
• Freeport Area School District - $177,596.
• Karns City Area School District - $154,575.
• Knoch School District - $183,640.
The noncompetitive grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Each school district receives a base allocation of $100,000, plus additional funding calculated using its 2024-25 adjusted average daily membership.
