Mustello Announces Significant Investment in Fire, EMS Services Across Butler County
February 13, 2026
BUTLER COUNTY - Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) announced fire and emergency response organizations throughout the 11th Legislative District have been awarded nearly $227,000 in grants from the state.
“Every call answered by our firefighters and EMS personnel fulfills a commitment to protect lives and property,” said Mustello. “This ongoing grant program created by the Legislature ensures departments can invest in safer facilities, reliable equipment and essential training, while reducing debt when needed. Because the funding comes from gaming proceeds rather than General Fund tax revenue, we are strengthening public safety in a fiscally responsible way for Butler County taxpayers.”
The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
The following grants were awarded in the 11th District:
• Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company - $14,694.
• Butler Ambulance Service Company - $15,000.
• Butler City Fire Department - $15,930.
• Butler Township Volunteer Fire District - $50,446.
• Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association - $15,106.
• East Butler Volunteer Fire Department (EMS) - $15,000.

• Sarver Volunteer Fire Company - $14,694.
• Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company - (EMS) $15,000.
• Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company - $15,106.
Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire safety, or reduction of existing debt.
All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with the office to receive their grants.
