Mustello Announces State Grants for Butler County Community Projects

December 19, 2025

BUTLER COUNTY – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced nearly $1.2 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support critical infrastructure upgrades, public works equipment and historic preservation projects across Butler County.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and other projects that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.

“These grants are meaningful investments in the safety, reliability and long-term sustainability of our communities,” said Mustello. “By supporting critical water and sewer infrastructure, essential municipal equipment and historic preservation, these projects will help Butler County municipalities continue delivering the services residents rely on now and in the future.”

Mustello advocated for funding with Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler/Clarion/Erie/Forest/Venango/Warren).

The approved Butler County projects include:

• Chicora Borough – $250,000 to make improvements to the borough’s antiquated water filtration plant. The project includes installation of a green sand filtration package, pre-reaction tanks, a backup generator, electrical and building upgrades, replacement of chemical feed equipment and upgrades to the existing pumping system. LSA funds will be used for construction, engineering and administrative costs.
• Clearfield Township – $162,290 to replace an outdated 1980 open-cab tractor and side-deck mower with a modern enclosed-cab tractor and new side-deck mower. The updated equipment will improve operator safety and efficiency while supporting ongoing road and right-of-way maintenance. LSA funds will be used for equipment purchase and administrative costs.
• Oakland Township – $141,244 for the purchase and upfitting of a new dump truck to support plowing and other municipal operations. The project includes a dump body, hydraulic system, toolbox, 10-foot western plow and spreader. LSA funds will be used for vehicle and upfit costs.
• Saxonburg Borough – $150,000 to construct a new foundation and renovate the historic Wire Rope Workshop building in Roebling Park. The project will address structural deterioration, improve drainage, repair flooring, restore asphalt parking areas and replace sidewalks disturbed during construction. LSA funds will be used for renovation and engineering costs.
• Summit Authority – $250,000 to support a sanitary sewer extension project in Summit Township. Phase I includes construction of a sequencing batch reactor treatment plant, installation of sanitary sewer lines, manholes, force mains, grinder pumps and related infrastructure to address failing on-lot sewage systems. LSA funds will be used for construction, engineering and administrative costs.
• Winfield Township – $200,000 to assist with the purchase and upfitting of a new single-axle dump truck from a COSTARS-certified dealer. The truck will replace an aging, high-mileage unit and support road maintenance and snow removal. LSA funds will be used for vehicle purchase.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority is an independent agency responsible for administering state investments that promote economic growth, infrastructure development and community revitalization throughout Pennsylvania.
