Mustello: Fire, EMS Grants Awarded in 11th District

HARRISBURG - Fire and emergency response organizations in the 11th Legislative District have been awarded $211,578 in grants from the state, Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) announced today.

The program was created by the Legislature and is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

“Our first response organizations are woven into the very fabric of our local communities,” said Mustello. “I am very pleased that these grant funds go directly to those organizations whose mission is providing protection for our citizens and properties. We have a lot of wonderful people in fire, rescue and EMS services and it is always good to support their efforts.”

Below is the list of local fire companies and EMS agencies and the amounts they received:

• Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company - $14,385.
• Butler Ambulance Service Company - $15,000.
• Butler City Fire Department - $15,246.
• Butler Township Volunteer Fire District - $39,676.
• Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association (fire) - $14,468.
• Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association (EMS) - $11,522.
• East Butler Volunteer Fire Department (fire) - $12,664.
• East Butler Volunteer Fire Department (EMS) - $15,000.
• Herman Volunteer Fire Company - $15,461.
• Oakland Township Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company - $13,094.
• Sarver Volunteer Fire Company - $15,031.
• Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company (fire) - $15,031.
• Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company (EMS) - $15,000.

All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
