HARRISBURG – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced the awarding of nearly $2.17 million in state funding by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for community improvement projects within the 11th Legislative District.
Local Share Account grants support economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest project through gaming funds under Act 71 of 2004.
“Investing in our communities is an investment in our future,” said Mustello. “These grants will help improve infrastructure, support local projects and create opportunities for economic growth across the 11th District. It’s essential we continue to support the needs of our communities, and these funds will ensure our municipalities have the tools they need to thrive.”
The local grants include:
• Chicora Borough - $230,868 for the purchase of a backhoe loader with attachments for street and water system maintenance and snow removal operations.
• Clearfield Township - $493,402 to repave Herman Road located in Clearfield Township. Herman Road, a main thoroughfare with large traffic volumes, is in deteriorating condition with potholes and shoulders crumbling with abrupt drop offs at the edge of the road.
• Clearfield Township - $198,198 for renovations to the municipal building, including replacing the siding and roof of the 44-year-old building.
• Donegal Township - $44,145 to purchase an upfit package including an 11-foot plow and spreader. It will allow the township to properly upfit a 2015 Peterbilt work truck to perform winter maintenance on township roads.
• Donegal Township - $158,560 to purchase a F650 diesel truck with upfit package. This will allow the township to perform road maintenance more regularly.
• Jefferson Township - $250,000 for renovations and improvements to the community pool. The funds will be used for construction and engineering costs.
• Oakland Township - $500,000 for the construction of a municipal complex to include pre-engineered buildings to house the public works garage, a salt shed and a municipal administration building.
• Saxonburg Borough - $85,111 to improve a public park restroom. The bathroom at Roebling Park is the only public facility in Saxonburg Borough and is essential to the borough’s ability to host community events in the park.
• Summit Township - $105,300 for the purchase of a track loader. It will assist with loading and unloading equipment and building materials.
• Winfield Township - $99,615 to install a poured-in-place rubber playground surface at the community park. Winfield Township’s public works department will remove the existing wood mulch playground surface with a vacuum truck. The new playground surface will enhance safety and conforms with ADA, making the park a more inviting and inclusive place for residents.
The CFA was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
