HARRISBURG – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today voted with a majority of her House of Representatives colleagues to responsibly move the state forward during these uncertain times, by approving a five-month stabilizing budget.
House Bill 2387 would keep the state moving in a positive direction while offering more time to manage the unknowns. In addition, the legislation would provide maximum flexibility to plan for the remaining seven months of the 2020-21 fiscal year.
“To ensure our children get a full year’s education uninterrupted, through the insistence of House Republicans, this budget fully funds Pennsylvania schools for 12 months,” said Mustello. “It is vital that our children and their parents can rest assured that school will resume in the fall. This budget provides the necessary resources to allow our schools to open safely. Education is one of my top priorities, and our future leaders must be given the tools to learn and grow.”
The stabilizing budget in House Bill 2387 spends approximately $25.8 billion, without any broad-based tax increases or program disruptions, and is based off this year’s (enacted 2019-20 General Fund) budget.
“Pennsylvanians expect government to operate effectively,” said Mustello. “A timely budget is an enormous step in the right direction as our state continues to face the challenges associated with the coronavirus pandemic.”
House Bill 2387 now moves to the Senate for consideration.
